1585 Raleigh sends first group of colonists to Roanoke.

1586 the first group of colonists sails back to England with Sir Francis Drake. Drake came to Roanoke to visit
John White is governor of Roanoke. 1587 goes back to England for supplies.
Spanish armada fighting with England.
White cannot return to Roanoke until 1590, three years later.
Accuses Raleigh of treason 1603 but King James I suspends his death sentence.
1592 Queen Elizabeth does not like Raleigh anymore. Puts him in the Tower of London jail with his girlfriend, Bess until 1592
1595 Raleigh looks for the lost city of Gold and then returns to England. James I is King of England and keeps Raleigh in the tower for 10 years.
1616 Raleigh sails to South America to find gold again. James was upset because Raleigh disobeyed his orders not to invade Spanish territory.
James orders Raleigh to be executed.
1618 Raleigh is executed.
