THE DOG SLED

SUGGESTIONS FOR ACTIVITIES

1.  Draw an enlarged version of  the sled on oak tag paper.  Those who do not enjoy doing their own art work may trace the sled on an overhead page and enlarge this on oak tag paper or butcher paper.

2.  Cut the sled out.  I put the sled on the wall or a bulletin board that is within reach.  This is an INTERACTIVE activity.

3.  Write the names of the sled parts on oak tag or index cards.

4.  Put Velcro on the sled parts to be named and on the index cards that have the part labeled.

5.  Students match the dog sled part word to the sled by placing the label on the dog sled.

ART ACTIVITY:

Have students design their own dog sled for the race.  This can be made as a drawing or from various materials such as a shoe box, cardboard, pipe cleaners, etc.
