POEMS & SONGS

              September     September

     September means it's time again

          For going off to school.

      The days are getting shorter

And the nights are getting cool.

           September is a time,,

          Of beginning for all

          The beginning of school,

          The beginning of fall.

                          Good Morning Poems

August Good Morning Poem   September Good Morning Poem
          Good morning to our school,

         Good Morning to our friends

Good morning to the crayons red and blue.

           Good morning to the alphabet,

      Good morning to counting numbers

We can work together, me and you.

          Good Morning to red apples

Good morning to the green worms

Good morning to the leaves gold and brown.

          Good morning to gray squirrels,

Good morning to the blue birds,

September colors are blooming all around.

The good morning poems are a component of our Morning Meeting (Responsive Classroom link).  The sentences are written on sentence strips and placed in a pocket chart.  I use pictures of each object described as a rebus approach to support early reading and vocabulary. Each month children learn another good morning poem, copy the poem, illustrate and bind their poems for the year in a notebook.
