          For going off to school.            

      The days are getting shorter      

      And the nights are getting cool.

            September is a time,,

          Of beginning for all

          The beginning of school,

   September colors are blooming all around.

 

             The good morning poems are a component of our Morning Meeting (Responsive Classroom link).  The sentences are written on sentence strips and placed in a pocket chart.  I use pictures of each object described as a rebus approach to support early reading and vocabulary. Each month children learn another good morning poem, copy the poem, illustrate and bind their poems for the year in a notebook.
